WNPOC OPERATING PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT Launching

On 15th March 2009, White Nile (5B) Petroleum Operating Company Ltd (WNPOC) launched its Operating Performance Improvement (OPI) signifying another key milestone for WNPOC.

The OPI launching ceremony was officially launched by Mr. Salah Hassan Wahbi, Chairman, WNPOC, and President & CEO, Sudapet. The ceremony was held at the PETRONAS Multipurpose Hall, Nile Avenue in Khartoum, Sudan. Among the invited guests were Madam Mona Bashir, Acting Director General, OEPA, and Tn. Hj. Nusral Danir, Chairman, PETRONAS Sudan. Furthermore, present was Mr. Ali Faroug, Vice President of WNPOC.

During his speech, Mr. Salah Hassan Wahbi congratulated WNPOC for its accomplishment to charter another major milestone in its journey towards becoming the Preferred, Leading Petroleum Operating Company in Sudan. He further mentioned that it is critical for WNPOC to progressively embark on improvement initiatives in order to sustain and to remain competitive in these challenging times and hope that WNPOC will be a more cohesive organization that delivers high performance and achieves its target for excellence. He also indicated that this OPI initiative could be considered in other JOCs in Sudan.

Earlier in his opening remarks, WNPOC President, Mr. Mohamed Sabri Zain explained that the OPI was mooted with the intention of not only to assess WNPOC level of operational performances but more importantly to seek out and capture opportunities to further improve such performances. Persuant to this need, WNPOC engaged the services of PETRONAS OPI team to conduct a Situational Assessment (SA) on WNPOCs operations performances from 21st December 2008 until 29th January 2009, a total of six (6) dedicated weeks.

WNPOC staff also participated in the SA. Arising also from the SA, an OPI Task Force was formed in WNPOC as a platform to drive, monitor and track the improvement initiatives. He further mentioned that the above efforts will be carried out in parallel with the aim to overcome WNPOCs biggest challenges, i.e. the Crude evacuation and Quality Banking issues. Sabri the OPI Launching is a testimony and demonstration of WNPOCs commitment to adopt the OPI culture as their way in WNPOC. This occasion has also marked the noble aspiration of WNPOC to contribute not only in the development of the oil industry but also in the development of local manpower to support the industry. He then stressed that the motto adopted for OPI,"TOWARDS OPERATING EXCELLENCE" epitomize WNPOCs commitment to continuously add value to our stakeholders. It was also observed that the event received relentless support by PETRONAS with the participation of Mr. Noor Azlan from PCSB OPI.
